MicroStrat is a geological consultancy that has been working for the oil and gas industry for over 25 years, specialising in applied biostratigraphy. The principal consultant, Dr Peter Morris, works directly on well analysis and evaluations, and has gained considerable experience as project co-ordinator having undertaken numerous routine well, field and regional studies for most major oil companies including BP, AkerBP, Statoil/Equinor, Shell and British Gas.

Areas of expertise include the Permian to Quaternary biostratigraphy of N.W. Europe, Balkans, North Africa and Middle East regions. Today MicroStrat is recognised as an industry leader in Triassic - Jurassic micropalaeontology of N.W. Europe, having developed unrivalled expertise in integrated microfaunal - megaspore biostratigraphy and biofacies analysis

MicroStrat has recently been involved in a major field study evaluating the mid-Cretaceous Mishrif Formation, and is continuing to build on its expertise in Middle East, Mesozoic carbonate biostratigraphy involving thin-section analysis of larger and smaller foraminifera, calpionellids, algae etc.
